Crowdy
Mill Holiday Cottage
Crowdy Mill lies in one of the west counties
prettiest valleys, alongside the river Harbourne.
Surrounded by hills and sheep it is just three
miles from historic Totnes. The present mill was
built towards the end of the 17th century, though
there is evidence that there has been a mill at
this site since 1297. The mill was restored about
15 years ago (though sadly not running at the
moment) and has two wonderful wheels that our
guests are welcome to look at.
The Spillway cottage is adjacent to the mill, lies
right on the river, you could fish from the sitting
room! This beautiful cottage was once the outhouse
and wash house for the millers wife. It is suitable
for four people, ideally two adults and two
children. The cottage consists of a large sitting
room
with leather sofa, antique pine table, writting
desk, television and video. There is a wood burning
stove for those cold winter nights. We also have a
large book and video collection. The kitchen
contains a rayburn cooker, microwave and the usual
kitchen essentials. Pretty bathroom with window
overlooking the river, consists of bath with hand
shower, toilet and sink. I also provide a bowl of
toiletries in case you forget any essentials. At
the end of a small corridor and next to the
bathroom is the bedroom with an antique double bed
and side tables. Above the sitting room is a
gallery with two single futon beds, reached by a
ladder and suitable for slightly older children.
French windows open onto the front courtyard
alongside the spillway, with garden furniture. This
courtyards overlooks our ochard which guests are
welcome to use. For children there are tree ropes
and swing.
